American Girls

prompted by a question from tchotchkelove, I just did some AG researching, and it looks as though Kirsten has joined Samantha in retirement.

….curse you, Mattel! You’re depriving today’s kids of the two best dolls!  (well, Molly was one of the best, too.  They’d better leave her alone!)

I’m so glad that I’ve had Sam and Kirsten safely in my room since I was 7.  They’re actually the only 2 AGs I have… which is probably why this makes me so upset =P

tchotchkelove asked: "Hi there! I love your Tumblr! I was just browsing through and I saw a post from awhile ago where you said that American Girl Dolls are no longer in production. This saddened me because when I have kids someday (hopefully at least one girl ;D), I fully intended on buying AG dolls. I had Molly growing up and she is still my most cherished toy. Anyways, all that to say I looked up the site and American Girl dolls are not only in production, the company is even producing some of the historical character's friends from the books. All at americangirl.com. A bit of the 90s that hasn't been reworked, unlike a lot of other toys. :) Keep up the great work with the tumblog! -Sarah"

Hi Sarah!  Thanks so much, I’m glad you’re enjoying the blog!  I do know that American Girls are still very popular and production is going strong!  I think the post you read may have been about Samantha, who has sadly been retired.  Or I may have been talking about the demise of the Pleasant Company, which was bought out by the Barbie company, Mattel, several years ago.  So, although it’s not quite the same, you will definitely be able to share AG with your kids! (minus Samantha)

xx

EDIT: I just looked through my posts, and actually I think you read the one about Magic Attic Club.  MAC dolls are the ones that are no longer in production. ;)

Hey everyone!  I’ve been having fun posting my top 15 movies from my childhood, but since I’m nearing the end of those, I was thinking about starting something new.  Any suggestions for a new list?

i cannot even begin to explain how many years ive been trying to remember the name of that game!!! ahaha :D"

thank you for the commercial!  that’s so strange, the name “henry” doesn’t ring a bell at all, but I remember that commercial like I just watched it yesterday.  Well I’m glad arcticstrip3s could help you out! xx

They just threw a cow out the window!

(thank you to chainedbird and arcticstrip3s!)

If this isn’t a song that defines my childhood I don’t know what is!

  • Shawn: There wasn't even any snow!
  • Cory: Yeah, what about that Shawn? You told me the weather report said 'snow in the mountains'.
  • Shawn: They did! They said the rocky mountains were blanketed with fresh powder.
  • Cory: The Rockies? Shawn, we're in the Poconos, 2000 miles away from the Rocky Mountains!
  • Shawn: Oh, you mean it's a name? I thought it was a description. You know, like, chewy nougat.
letsquitlife asked: "do you remember this movie!!? Seeing your post's about your favorite movies reminded me of it<3
